The SolusOS team is pleased to announce the second release candidate of the 64-bit Eveline Edition which features the Gnome 2.30 desktop. A number of critical issues have been addressed:

  • Driver related build issues – Automatic proprietary driver installation for ATI/AMD, and NVIDIA (SolusOS makes use of “non-free” components for automatic installation)
  • PackageKit Issues including Software Sources, Update Manager, and Add/Remove Applications/li>
  • Sound Indicator support has been dropped due to numerous instability issues

We would like to remind you that the 64-bit Edition is still in a developmental stage and not recommended for installation on production machines. The SolusOS team greatly appreciates those who tested the RC1 and reported any problems/bugs that needed immediate attention. That is what makes any distro truly successful and helps us to offer you the best product possible.

Those who installed the first release candidate will not need to reinstall but follow the steps given here: /wiki/2012/05/upgrade-rc1-to-rc2-amd64/

Thank you for considering SolusOS and please leave appropriate feedback for any issues you may encounter. You may also visit our IRC channel for help if needed.

  2. Gonna give it a shot this morning. Did the gnome-panel locking up thing get a fix? Or was I the only one who had that problem?

Any progress on making it possible to install mencoder and devede? I’m still on the 32-bit and waiting for this to be sorted out before installing the 64-bit. Also, it would be nice to know that Skype is now working reliably, as I have friends who are looking for a distro but who use Skype on a daily basis and will not consider Solus unless Skype works for them.

    • Dear bdantas,

yes it was done..solution is provided >>here< <. I think latest version of the skype which have useless features only does not work properly.. skype is natively supported by Debian so.. I suggest to you to install version 2.1.0.81 which works. I use skype on daily basis as well.. Simply this apps works with any distro..

Notebook ASUS K72F, Intel® – 2.13 GHz, Core™ i3 Processor 350M/330M : 2.26 GHz, Chipset Mobile Intel® HM55 Express, RAM 8GB SDRAM, ATI Radeon HD 4500… Solus 32 bit it worked immediately to ‘output. Now the new 64-bit in thirty seconds is stopped in all four modes. Unfortunately the RC 2 64-bit I do not work. Will I apettare RC 3? Thanks for any advice.

    • 64bit version is RC – release candidate which is only for testing and debugging.. it should not be installed on production machine..

  5. The md5sum on the “download from our mirrors” link above is still the same as RC1. I can’t find the torrent for the one with

Waaah! What took so long? I’ve tried out I think around 50 different operating systems since gnome 3 and unity hit the spot. Lately I’ve been using LMDE after that came solus os 32. Now it was time for the 64 bit version. The RC1 version had some issues on my machine flash was really buggy and the volume was really low,etc.. but don’t really want to talk about it because all seem to be solved in RC2. Unbelievable, everythings works flawless! Finally found my fav distro. Its the only os on my desktop now and when the final comes out gonna install it on 4 other machines. Thank you man so fu&#in much!
